| Ahh, there is nothing quite as colorful as the Ozark Mountains in the autumn months, when the leaves begin to turn to gold and red. For a romantic get-away in the fall, Branson, Missouri has a lot to offer. My wife and I have spent many a Friday afternoon driving into the Branson area, enjoying the scenic overlooks, and the views along Tablerock Lake. Branson is famous for its family-oriented entertainment venues, including theme parks, roadside arcades, and country music shows. We typically stay a bit further off the main road, and check in at the Thousand Hills Resort, where we can enjoy spacious condominium style acccommodations and the 18-hole golf course that's right on the property. The privacy and the beautiful surroundings can really put a couple in a great mood! After hitting the golf course on Saturday, we often take in dinner at Shorty Small's barbecue restaurant just up the road. That wonderful aroma of smoked ribs will greet you as soon as you leave your vehicle, and will whet your appetite for a great meal. The portions are quite ample, no matter what item you select from the menu. If you leave Shorty Small's hungry, it's your own fault. After sleeping in a bit on Sunday, we check out of the room, shop for a few bargains at the Tanger Outlet Mall, and then head for home, relaxed and refreshed. |
